Initial Drilling Undercarriage Blocks January 2017
A great start to 2017 as the first drillings to the undercarriage / engine mounting blocks is started. These photographs show the large main assembly on the underside of the inverted wing resting on the aluminium blocks that carry out the three axis alignment. Not only must these balance the camber, slope and direction of the wing bust also match the directions of the other paired fitting. Eventually these will bear the load of undercarriage and engine.
Once in place exactly, not a short job, all the prepared final woodwork can be completed. This includes the final stringers into the centre section, the final centre section blocks, and the spacers for the winding gear mechanism.
